Os Bondes de Melbourne

Na minha opinião, o charme do centro da cidade de Melbourne são os bondes. Há 55 anos eles operam as linhas que ligam alguns subúrbios à cidade. São 500 bondes operando 7 dias por semana.



Além das linhas convencionais que ligam o centro da cidade aos bairros, existe uma linha chamada "city circle", que é de graça e esta linha faz uma volta no centro da cidade passando por lugares famosos tipo o museu de imigração, o porto, docklands, parlamento etc... este bonde funciona o dia todo.

Há também o bonde restaurante, do século XIX, literalemnte tranformado em restaurante. Com mesas, luz de velas é só ligar e reservar. Este também circula pela cidade 7 dias por semana, com opção pra café da manhã, almoço ou jantar. Parece ser bem legal...










No verão, o bonde W-11 circula todas as sextas feiras pela cidade, fazendo 3 voltas de 50 min cada; este bonde é uma jornada de arte, com performance de música, arte e teatro interativas e improvisadas. É Também conhecido como "Karachi Tram", muito colorido e animado, decorado em arte do Pakistan :) É uma festa!!!

~Melbourne's Tram~ Melbourne has 500 trams operating in its streets, 7 days a week, throught lines that link the city to the suburbs around it. Besides the conventional lines, there is one all day free tram line, it is called "city circuit tram" and it goes around the city passing a number of Melbourne attractions such as the immigration museum, the parliament, the docklands etc... There is also a tram restaurant what seems very nice, it is from century XIX and it operate everyday. You can have breakfast, lunch or dinner enjoying the city view on board :) Also, during the summer, the tram W-11, is on Melbourne's streets, only fridays nights, it goes for 3 different 50min "artful journeys" in the city, exploring dialogue, improvisation and openness; and has its colorful Pakistan style (I have no idea why Pakistan style, it's just gorgeous!!).

MOVEMBER - O movimento do bigode

No mês de novembro o movimento MOVEMBER muda a cara dos caras aqui na Austrália (e em outros países também como UK, US, Canadá, New Zealand, Espanha, Irlanda). Voce sai nas ruas e vê os homens de bigode, é uma febre!!! O movimento é todo voltado à saúde do homem; no início do mes, aqueles que se interessam em deixar o bigodão crescer pela boa causa se registram como MO BROS, daí eles devem estar com o bigode raspado e deixar crescer durante todo o mês. Tornando-se um MO BRO, eles recebem donações ($$), e estas vão para instituições como a fundação do cancer de próstata e instituição nacional de depressão do homem. Só no ano passado foram arrecadados 16 milhões de dólares aqui na Australia, isso mostra que o movimento é forte:).

No final deste mes, acontece a festa de gala do MOVEMBER onde os jurados (experts em bigodes, rs)irão julgar o bigode vencedor do ano. Existem várias categorias e vários prêmios, desde a um aparelho de DVD a um carro zero. As mulheres também podem participar como parceiras de seus MO BROS, elas são chamadas de MO SISTAS e também concorrem a prêmios. A abreviação MO vem da palavra "moustache" (bigode) and BRO and SISTAS, irmão/irmã. Aqui algumas fotos (da net) do ano passado:






MOVEMBER is an event that happens here in Australia (and also in another countries as a UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, Spain, Ireland). The main rule is that the guys must shave they moustache, at the beggining of November, and let it grows to raise money for the prostate cancer foundation and the national depression in men initiative. It is all about the men health. They have to register themselves and follow the rules of the event. In the end of the month, there is a big party what they will be judged and might become the MO BRO of the year, winning very interesting prizes such as a brand new car:) The girls can also participate as a MO SISTAR and also win prizes. There is a few categories for the MO BRO and SISTAS to win nice prizes:) Last year the moviment raised 16 million dollars, only here in Australia. Pat and I are not participating, hahaha... I enjoy seeing the guys and their mostauche everywhere I go. My father in law is in this year:) Anyway, I just found out that it happens in US as well...in 3 years that I've lived there I never noticed or heard anything about it. Did you guys know about it??

Spring Carnival

O Spring Carnival tem 4 dias que são notáveis, o Derby Day, Melbourne Cup Day, Oaks Day e Stakes Day. Cada um desses dias tem um foco, tem o dia da família (Stakes Day), o dia das ladies o dia em que as mulheres se vestem de preto e branco e pra cada dia o homem tem um tipo de flor pra usar na lapela do terno. Acontece, também, o que eles chamam de "fashion on the field"; qualquer pessoa pode se registrar e desfilar para concorrer a prêmios bem interessantes como uma viagem a Dubai ou um lexus zero:) Neste desfile será julgado quem está mais bem vestido de acordo com as categorias existentes.
A aglomeração de gente é enorme, milhares de pessoas vão ao jockey club. Usam o trem, os bondes, vão de carro, de barco e até de helicópetero, pasme!!!!
Agora tem também aqueles que tentam bancar o engraçado né?


E aqueles que, pecam pelo excesso e, simplesmente, perdem a elegância no caminho, rs....

The Spring Carnival has 4 remarkable days: Derby Day, Melbourne Cup Day, Oaks Day and Stakes Day; each one of these days has a focus, there is Family Day (Stakes Day), the ladies day, the guys day (women dress up in black and white); for every day the man has one type of flower for wearing on his suit. There is also the fashion competition called "fashion on the field", anyone can register to compete in it and win interesting prizes as a trip to Dubai or a brand new lexus:) this show will be judged which is best dress according to the existing categories.
The agglomeration of people is huge, thousands of people go to the horse racing. They use the train, trams, go by car, boat and even by Helicopter.

Now is also those who try to play the funny right? (see the second picture)
And those who, probably drink too much and, seems like they are also in a competition "fail on the field" (see the third picture):)))))

Melbourne Cup

A primeira terça feira do mês de novembro é a terça feira mais famosa da Austrália. Mesmo sendo feriado só em Melbourne (aliás acho que em Canberra também é) os australianos, estejam aonde estiverem, páram para acompanhar pela TV, rádio, jornal e apostarem na corrida de cavalos mais famosa, a Melbourne Cup.

Sem querer entrar na parte técnica, que eu nem entendo bem, TODOS os dias do ano acontece corrida de cavalos em alguma parte da Austrália, mas, entre setembro e novembro, aqui em Melbourne, acontece o grande evento chamado "Spring carnival".

O "Spring Carnival" é como se fosse a copa do mundo de futebol com todos os times sendo "filtrados" até chegarem na Melbourne Cup, que é a final pra ver quem leva a taça e título de vencedor, portanto, a Melbourne Cup é a corrida mais importante. Nesta corrida compete os melhores jóckeys de toda a temporada e acontece às 3 da tarde desta famosa terça feira (hoje) com duração de uns 3 min. É obvio que este evento envolve muita grana, no ano passado o prêmio foi de 5,5 milhões de dólares para o vencedor:)

Eu fico BOBA de ver as filas que vão até do lado de fora dos pubs para as pessoas apostarem, acredito que até aqueles que não são muito de apostas (como eu) neste dia apostam. Existe a opção de apostar pelo telefone e pela internet:) Eu acabei de chegar de um pub...apostei $100 e ganhei $25, ou seja, perdi $75:( ano passado lembro que apostei $10 ganhei $111. Deve ter sido sorte de principiante...

Próximo Post eu tento falar sobre a parte "fashion" deste mega evento que faz Melbourne parar. É um show!!


The first Tuesday of November is the most famous Tuesday in Australia. Even though only holiday in Melbourne (in fact I think that is also in Canberra) the Australians, are where they are, stop for follow the races on TV, radio, newspaper and place a bet on the most famous horse racing, the Melbourne Cup.

Every day of the year there is horse racing happening somewhere in Australia, but between September and November, here in Melbourne, it happens the big event called "Spring Carnival". The Melbourne Cup is the most important day of this event, it is only 1 race, which takes place at 3 pm in this famous Tuesday(today). In this race (which takes about 3 min) the best jockeys of the spring carnival and their horses are competing in the Melbourne Cup. It is obvious that this event involves a lot of money, last year the prize was 5.5 million dollars for the winner:)

I'm amazed to see the lines going up outside the pubs for people to place their bets, I believe that even those who do not used to bet (like me) is betting for Mel cup racing. There is the option to bet over the phone or internet:) I just got back from a pub ... I bet $100 and won $25, yes I'm a loser!!! I remember last year I bet $10 and won $111. It must have been just a beginner's luck ...

McClelland Gallery & Sculpture Park

Se você gosta de natureza e arte, vai gostar do parque McClelland. É um parque com exibições permanentes e temporárias de esculturas de artistas australianos, em estilo contemporâneo; um espaço ímpar, público e gratuito.

Tem a exibição de 60 esculturas ao ar livre e, na parte interna, 3 espaços diferentes com exposições temporárias de gravuras, pinturas, fotografias e esculturas. Existe uma cafeteria modernésima com um menu bem variado e música ambiente. Tem, também, uma lojinha que vende livros de arte e artigos artesanais bem legais.

Aqui na Austrália o governo investe pesado em arte, cultura e entreterimento proporcionando inúmeras opções de diversão gratuitas. É gratificante sair de casa e em cada canto da cidade ver o nosso imposto de renda investido:)

If you like nature and art, you will enjoy the park McClelland. It has permanent and temporary outdoor sculptures by Australian artists, contemporary style and it is public and free.

The unique sculpture park showcases over 60 outdoor sculptures of major australian sculptors and also has three indoor exhibitions and collection displays works on paper, photography, paitings and sculptures. There is a very nice and modern cafeteria and also there is a suvernir shop that sells art books and very cool crafts.

Here in Australia, the government invests a lot in culture, art and entertainment. Melbourne has several options of things to entertain yourself without spending any money:)) we can see in every corner of the city our tax money back:)

A biblioteca daqui do bairro onde eu moro é enorme, com uma arquitetura premiada e em estilo geológico (inspirada no parque nacional "organ pipes"), super moderna, linda!!

Eu tenho ido lá uma vez por semana para levar a Sofia no "baby time". O baby time é para crianças de 0 - 2 anos, é gratuito e acontece neste espaço vermelho e verde da foto maior acima. Uma funcionária da biblioteca conduz a sessão; ela lê estórias e canta músicas infantis e a meninada fica h-i-p-n-o-t-i-z-a-d-a. Tem um telão que mostra a letra das músicas, daí, nós, os pais, podemos cantar também:) No fim da sessão, que dura 1h, ela distribui pequenos containers com água e sabão, daí a criançada enche a sala de bolhas. O negócio vira uma festa! A sessão é sempre lotada, umas 30 crianças com suas mães.

Além da biblioteca ser um show de modernidade e beleza ela oferece serviços bem diferentes do que eu estava acostumada a ver nas bibliotecas em geral, tipo:

* tem uma sessão de brinquedos educativos disponível para empréstimo, esta opção eu acho ótima pois Dona Sofia enjoa muito rápido dos brinquedos dela
* uma sala com playstation 3 em monitores grandes de tela plana
* oferece serviço de entrega e busca de livros a domicílio, GRÁTIS, para pessoas que estão doentes ou tem algum tipo de deficiência física,
* você pode renovar empréstimo online,
* tem sala que pode ser alugada para reuniões privadas,
* tem eventos esporádicos para criançada em arte, ciências e cultura, tipo outro dia criaram uma bat caverna, imagina só?

Eu devia frequentar mais do que só 1 vez por semana...

***The library here where I live is trully amazing. Very modern and beautiful. I go there, once a week, with Sofia, for the baby time what happens in this green and red space (see the big picture above). It is for kids from 0-2 years old, zero cost, and there is a girl, whom works at the library, who tells stories and sing babies songs. There is a big screem with the words of the songs so the parents can sing as well. I love looking the eyes of the kids just staring at this cool library girl, hehehhehe...

The library offers many things as entertainment and courses (there is a big room just for technology). They have the book chat club, writers club, they offer toys for kids at different ages that can be borrowed; there is a meeting room that can be hired; a very nice cafeteria; many books, DVD'S, magazines, newspaper; there is a big room with a playstation 3 with big flat screem and leather sofa (looks very confortable). They offer a free delivery and pick service for people who are ill or have any disability; you can renew itens online; free internet; and besides the permanent options they have the temporary things going on for kids and mature ages in arts, culture and science like the other day they've built a bat cave for the kids, how cool??. It is VERY cool!! The place is brand new, It was built last year, and won a prize for the archicheture, what has a geological style, and was inspired by the rocks of the national park called "organ pipes", I've been to this park (very close to home) and I understand what do they mean:) I should go to the library more often it is just a such pleasure to be there, I've always loved libraries anyway:(

Achei o máximo quando um grupo de crianças, fantasiadas para halloween, bateram na minha porta ontem com o famoso "treat or trick" e trouxeram o cachorro delas também fantasiado:) muuuuuuuuuuuuito bacana, fiquei imaginando a diversão dessa criançada. O cachorro que veio aqui em casa estava com uma faca atravessando a cabeça, haahahaha...

Fui dar uma olhada online e vi que tem várias opções de fantasias super legais (bizarras) para cachorro.



It was awesome when some kids knocked my door yesterday with the famous "treat or trick" and they brought they dog along in a costume as well. The dog had a knife crossing its head, hahahhahha....the kids seemed like having a lots of fun!! I was checking online and found out that there is a quite few options for a dog costume.
Halloween in austrália (and, I guess, like in any other country) is far smaller than america, I don't think so the kids would take seriously the "treat or trick", there is no pumpkins in front of the houses and I've never seen people going to work in their costumes:( I really enjoyed the halloween time in america. In Brazil we don't celebrate it at all:(

Frog Census

Mais uma coisa que eu nunca tinha ouvido falar...contagem de sapos? um censo de sapos? é...eu li no jornal que todo ano, na primavera (setembro), o censo é feito aqui em Melbourne, e é um trabalho voluntário; o interessado se registra e vai lá no lago ou no córrego e grava o "canto" do sapo. Daí eles enviam esta gravação para os ecologistas que vão analisar se este "canto" é de um sapo morador antigo ou se é novo. Dizem que cada sapo tem um canto distinto. Com isto eles tem como analisar se a população de sapos está crescendo ou não e avaliarem a condição ambiental do habitat deles. Acho que seria bacana pra turma de colégio fazer este trabalho do contrário haja paixão pra se voluntariar num trabalho desses, nó...

***Reading the newspaper I found out that here in Melbourne they do a frog census every year on spring (September), and it is a voluntee job. Whoever is interested in it have to register online and them go to the lakes and ponds and recorder the frog's call and send it to the ecologists. They said that each frog has a distinct call so the ecologists can analize the recorders and be sure whether it is from a new or old frog and them figure out if the frog population is increasing or not and judge about the eviroment where they are living. I reckon it would be fun for kids from school to do this job otherwise the people who voluntee for it must be really passion about frogs to go out and recorder its call.

Pra quem (como eu) aprecia o capricho e criatividade nas coisas, tomar um cafezinho em uma das milhares cafeterias espalhadas no centro de Melbourne é um prazer. O café é expresso e com a espuma do leite fervido eles fazem estes desenhos que são um charme!!

If you (like me) appreciate creative and well done things; to get a coffee in one of the "milions" of cafeterias in dowtown Melbourne can be an extra pleasure. The coffee is expresso and playing with the froth, the baristas can serve you with coffee + art. How cool is that?

Hot Spot

Meninas, meninas... dá gosto acompanhar o futebol australiano, viu? o jogo é rápido, tem regra simples e muitos gols (nunca é zero a zero). Os jogadores? ah os jogadores...são maravilhosos!!! o uniforme deles é uma camiseta cavada, mais ajustada no corpo e eles mostram estes braços musculosos e usam shorts mais curtos e justos do que nossos jogadores brasileiros. Agora estamos na final do campeonato anual, eu torço pro time do Pat (collingwood) e assisto todos os jogos:) It's fun!!!!!!!!! Eu já tinha comentado aqui sobre o futebol australiano. Agora olha só alguns dos jogadores (nuh!!):



Just want to say that the australian footy players are hot, Oh my god, they are hot! I am not a sport person but now is the footy season and I do wacth the games with Pat as I'm supporting his time (collingwood), what is doing well this season, thanks!. The aussie footy is fast, with a lots of gols in each game, the rules are simple and the players are more then gorgeous. In the 3 years that I've lived in US, baseball has never ever catched my attention, the game is too long, I never tried to understand the rules and the players are monsters, they are huge guys and not atractive to me at all, sorry US!!

A revista inglesa Economist publicou o ranking das melhores cidades para se viver no mundo e clap, clap, clap palmas para Austrália!!!! entre as 10 melhores estão 3 cidades daqui, ficando Melbourne como a terceira melhor, a primeira é Vancouver no Canadá e a segunda Vienna na Áustria. A pesquisa analisa as facilidades e dificuldades no dia a dia com categorias como saúde, cultura e lazer, clima, educação, infraestrutura, moradia etc...

Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo empataram ficando em 92 lugar.

The Economist magazine has published the ranking of the most liveable cities in the world and clap, clap, clap to Austrália!! 3 of the 10 best ones are australian cities, Melbourne is third in the ranking just behind the first Vancouver (Canadá) and second Vienna (Áustria). Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (Brazil) are in the same spot 92. The categories for the ranking are culture, health, transport, crime, housing etc...I'm not surprised that Melbourne is one of the top best cities, this city is amazing!!!

Queen Victoria Market

Um dos meus lugares favoritos de Melbourne é o mercado central, o Queen Victoria Market. É gigantesco e muito mais que um lugar só para compras, é pura diversão e me traz lembranças vivas do mercado central de BH (saudades!).

O bacana do mercado é que sempre acontece eventos em épocas especiais do ano como feira de comida internacional nas noites de quartas no verão, cursos de culinária, shows, eventos especiais para crianças etc. No próximo 19 de abril, acontece o mercado latino "La Plaza del Mercado" fui ano passado e adorei, além das barracas com comida típica de países latinos como Espanha, Colômbia, Peru etc...há apresentações de bandas e danças típicas latinas. Não achei nenhuma barraca vendendo comida brasileira mas teve apresentação de bandas (samba e forró).

O mercado tem um horário de funcionamento meio estranho, fechando, geralmente, por volta das 2pm, fim de semana um pouco mais prolongado. O mercado foi construído numa área que era um cemitério e ainda existem 9mil corpos enterrados lá, sem identificação, porque, anos atrás, a prefeitura pegou fogo e toda a documentação oficial foi destruída.

One of my favorites places in Melbourne is the central market, called Queen Victoria Market. It is huge and not just a place to go and buy fruit, veggie and meat. There is always a lot going on there like live music, performances, special events like cooking demonstrations, cooking class, food festivals, etc. Last year I went to the Latin food festival and it was awesome! I've been to the Suzuki Night Market as well, which is a special event for international food, that happen during the summer. They have those tents with people cooking and selling food from many differents cultures. We have somenthing similar in my hometown (back in Brasil) and I've always loved going there:)

Curiosity: The market stands were was the first official Melbourne's cemetery, and still have over 9 thousand bodies burried there without any record because they were destroyed during a fire in one of the wings of the Melbourne Town Hall, long ago.

Os jardins da minha vizinhança estão mudando completamente com a falta de chuva e a severa restrição no uso da água. O jeito é trocar a grama verde por pedras, grama sintética e plantas nativas. Estas duas fotos de casa com grama são sintéticas/artificiais. Well....a gente tem que se ajustar ao clima e à lei, né? Aqui em casa ainda não modificamos, mas teremos que fazer o mesmo muito em breve. Depois desse verão, ridicularmente quente e seco, a grama morreu quase toda. Eu até acho bonito o jardim com pedras e sem falar que a manutenção é bem mais prática, quase que inexistente:)Desde que Amie faleceu eu não vinha aqui, ela era minha companheira de caminhadas. Ao redor de casa é bem agradável para se caminhar, eu devia aproveitar mais isso...I will:) Hoje foi a primeira vez que encarei fazer um percurso de 20min. Ô peleja! O pior gente é que neste estágio da gravidez a vontade de ir no banheiro é a cada 5min, difícilllllllllllllllllllllll...
Today I've decided to go for a walk, since Amie passed way I haven't been to the lake side of where I live. It is just one block from home (2 min), it is pretty and very nice to walk around, I should do it more often, I will(?)...Have a look at the first lot of pics, it is my neighborhood and in their front yard there is no grass anymore, actually, there is, but it is sintetic grass.

Even that everybody has a water tank in they back yard, it is still hard to maintain the garden looking nice because of the drought, tough water restriction and dry/hot weather:( so for sure that's why people have been changing their front yards. I still think it looks nice but green grass is much prettier. We probably will be doing the same for our home, just have to choose some native plants and some rocks. The good thing is that we won't have much to take care of:)

Recebi uma mensagem no meu celular esta tarde, que veio da polícia estadual dizendo "expectativa de condições extremas do clima para a noite de segunda feira e terça. Vento forte e risco de queimadas. Ouça a sua rádio local para atualização de emergência". Eu já sabia desta previsão porque é só o que falam na TV. Ví no noticiário que esta mensagem foi enviada a milhões de pessoas residentes aqui em Victoria" (achei curioso este contato pelo celular). A previsão para amanhã é de 30 graus, nada mal...mas a expectativa é do vento chegar a 150km/h:( ainda existem regiões em chamas e esta tempestade de vento só piora as coisas porque o fogo se alastra num triz. I will Survive (?)!!!!

This afternoon, I've got a message on my mobile phone from the State Police saying "Extreme weather in Victoria expected Mon night & Tue. High wind & fire risk. Listen to local ABC radio for emergency updates" I already knew about the forecast throught the tv and internet. I saw in the news that the police has sent this message for millions of Victorian residentes. The concern is about the strong winds that will be hitting victoria tonight, expectation is that it will reach 150km/h. Few areas are still on fire and this wind storm can spread the fire rapidly making things even worse. For God sake!!!! We've had enough!!! I'll survive (?)!!!

Tenho recebido vários emails de amigos perguntando sobre as queimadas aqui no estado onde moro, Victoria, e se está tudo bem comigo. A região onde estou fica distante de onde a tragédia aconteceu e é um área mais urbana, não há florestas nem parques nacionais por perto de onde moro. No sábado o calor estava impressionante e o céu coberto por uma manta de fumaça, mas o fogo estava, pelo menos, 200km de distância da minha casa.

O noticiário só fala disso e é chocante ouvir os relatos dos sobreviventes. Tudo aconteceu muito rápido e muita gente não foi advertida de que a região deles estava sob ameaça, foram pegos de surpresa e na tentativa de escapar do fogo muita gente se acidentou com o carro por falta de visibilidade com a densa fumaça e não conseguiram fugir. O vento chegou a 110km/h, isso contribuiu para que o fogo se alastrasse rapidamente devastando tudo.

Cidades inteiras foram queimadas, tudo destruído...mais de 200 mortos e mais de mil casas totalmente destruídas, sem falar nos animais. Várias cidades estão bloqueadas pois o corpo de bombeiros ainda está a procura de corpos de pessoas desaparecidas. As imagens são chocantes.

Oficialmente foi dito que estes incêndios foram iniciados propositalmente e as investigações estão sendo feitas. O governo está oferecendo 100 mil dólares pra quem souber de alguma informação, estes criminosos serão julgados por assassinato em massa.

Até hoje a red cross já arrecadou 85 milhões de dólares em doações além de roupas e utensílios. O governo já assinou um projeto de reconstrução das comunidades. As providências são tomadas rápidas e, de uma certa forma, ajuda a levantar o espírito dos desabrigados.

Uma coisa é certa, estes incêndios acontecem todos os anos e não existe nada a ser feito para impedir isso. Eu fico pensando que com toda tecnologia que temos será que algo poderia ser feito para que as casas, nestas regiões, fossem, de alguma forma, mais seguras?

I've got quite few emails from friends asking me about the bushfire here in Victoria and concerning if I was all right. Last Saturday was too too hot, 46C (115F), very windy 110km/h and dry as well. I live about 200km, from where the tragedy happened. So far over 1 thousand houses where completely destroyed and over 200 people dead. There is still a lots of people missing and the researches for bodies is continuing. It is a shocking scenario. To watch the news and see the images of whole towns completely in ashes and hear the stories of who was luck to survive is sad, very sad. Officially is declared that the fires were lit deliberately and they have been investigated; the Gov is offering 100 thousand dollars reward for who can give information about theses criminals and they will be judged as a mass murderers. The red cross already received 85 million dollars in donations besides clothes, food and medication. The government already signed a project for reconstruction of the affected areas. I live in an urban area, there is no forest or national parks near me. Bushfire happens every summer here in Australia, unfortunately and it can't be beat:( it will come again, I just wonder with all the tecnology we have today what can be done to ensure safer home for those who lives in the country side(?).

Há 4 dias direto o calor aqui está infernal.
Hoje acordei 5:30 da manhã, o termômetro já marcava 30 graus
Ligo a TV e o noticiário me diz que a previsão é de mais um dia de 43 graus, 8% de umidade do ar, aff...
Meu nariz sangra há 3 dias...
Não tenho apetite...
A energia acaba (blackout total) e daí sem ventilador, sem ar condicionado, gente....não dá pra acreditar nisso!! Fui pro cinema pra ficar num lugar fresco (assisti o filme "austrália"). Na volta pra casa os sinais de trânsito não funcionavam por causa do blackout, o trânsito estava uma loucura, a sinalização era usando os faróis do carro, as mãos e o bom senso, que meda!! chego em casa e tava aquele forno, não consegui ficar, voltei pro meu carro, ar condicionado no talo e saí dirigindo sem destino...fiquei zanzando por 2h, mas no frescão:) Que dia bizarro!! que semana do cão!!cruzesssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Achei bacana a iniciativa da companhia de metrô daqui de Melbourne oferecer sorvete e garrafinha de água grátis na estação em recompensa aos atrasos nos horários do metrô. Atrasos estes que foram causados por causa do calor que estava intenso naquele dia (terça passada), 41 graus, e como o ar condicionado de um dos metrôs pifou este teve que ser removido dos trilhos, o que levaria umas 2h, por isso o enorme atraso.

Inevitavelmente, demoras no transporte público sempre acontecem e o que todo mundo quer é tomar o metrô no horário certo, mas um incidente assim, anunciado, no auto falante da estação, com pedido de desculpas aos passageiros e sorvetinho e água grátis, hummmm...acho que é super válida a intenção da companhia em "refrescar" os nervos dos usuários. Cool!!!!!!!!!!

Minha gravidez está indo muito bem. Só passei mal mesmo nos primeiros 3 meses, aliás muito mal. Um certo dia, como um passe de mágica, acordei e estava normal, sem nenhum daqueles sintomas de gravidez que todo mundo sabe, mesmo não tendo vivido.

Aqui na Austrália a mulher pode optar por fazer o pré natal no hospital ou com sua obstetra particular. Eu optei pelo hospital estarei sendo atendida pelo sistema público. Minha obstetra é brasileira e atende no mesmo hospital em que optei pelo pré natal.

Genteeeeeeeeeee...eu queria mostrar aqui pra voces algumas fotos do hospital. Ontem estive lá pela quinta vez para uma consulta regular e resolvi tirar umas fotos (morrendo de vergonha mas tirei, rs...) é que eu fico impressionada com aquele lugar. É simplesmente maravilhoso, moderno, e o mais legal é a estar num hospital que não te dá a sensação de estar num hospital.

Acima fotos do primeiro andar, a recepção belíssima com esta estátua logo no hall de entrada. Daí tem umas lojas, floricultura, lojas especializada em chocolates, tem loja de roupas, farmácia e uma praça de alimentação e uma biblioteca que eu uso demaaaaaaaaaais pois tem todo tipo de livro sobre maternidade, tem também computadores com acesso a internet, tudo grátis:)



























Agora vejam abaixo o berçário...é ou não é cho-can-te?????? reparem o piso do lugar...não é lindo de morrer? é um hospital com um ambiente alegre!!!

Neste mesmo andar ainda tem a clínica de patologia, fisioterapia, nutrição, psicológica e psiquiátrica, tudo disponível para a gestante que necessitar. Depois eu conto sobre o atendimento que é expecional também. E pensar que isto é o sistema público...

Daí vc me pergunta: Mas se tudo isso está disponível no sistema público de saúde, pra que ter um plano de saúde privado? Existem vários motivos e o mais importante deles é que no sistema público existe uma fila de espera para cirurgias e eu prefiro prevenir do que remediar, ainda mais agora tendo um baby.

Aqui na Austrália, pagamos impostos altíssimos e isso é só um pitaco do retorno que temos:)

***Yesterday I went to the hospital for one more regular antenatal appointment. I'm doing very well, feeling great:) Here I've posted some photos of the hospital for you to see how beautiful it looks like. I have got a private insurance but still need time to cover my pregnancy, so I have been attending through the public system which is amazing. The Women's hospital offer all the support besides the antenatal as phisiotheraphy, dietician, physicoloy, pathology exams, all for free.

The first photo is the entrance/reception of the hospital, the folowing ones are still in the first floor (food court, chocolate and flower shop), there is a library as well, with several choices of books about maternity/pregnancy, I've been reading a lot. They also have, in the library, computers with free internet access. The antenatal has been amazing, the doctors and midwives are very caring and seems like excellent professionals. Pat and I have participated in some parental classes and I've learned a lots of new things. You might wonder why did I get private healthy insurance if the public system here is so incredible? There is a waiting list for surgery in the public system, so, I don't want to take a chance in case something happen, specially now that I'm pregnant:) The thing that I like most about the hospital is that doesn't make me feel like I'm in a hospital. It is a very happy enviroment:):)
